Award-Winning Journalist, and Freelance Writer

I am an award-winning journalist with a 40-year career and thousands of bylines, accumulated as a staff writer at Canada’s The Globe and Mail newspaper and other publications, both domestic and international. As a longtime arts, fashion, and investigative journalist, I have earned widespread recognition for my criticism and writing, with praise and coverage in outlets such as Salon, The New York Sun, South China Morning Post, CBC Arts, and Rock Music Studies.

A two-time recipient of the Nathan Cohen Award for critical writing and recipient of numerous journalism awards, I am known for my in-depth reporting, early work on racism and repatriation in the arts, and my championing of artists’ rights. For my journalism, I received the Alumni of Influence award by the University of Toronto.

My work is marked by thorough research and clear, engaging prose. Additionally, I am a sought-after speaker and interviewer at festivals, museums, universities, and other cultural institutions.
